Fundrasing target £40,000
Agape World will be taking family members of former FEPOWs to Japan between the 27th October and 12th November 2020.
This Pilgrimage of reconciliation will follow the pattern of previous trips, allowing people to build relationships with Japanese people, hold memorial services, and have meetings with representatives of the Japanese Government and the British Embassy.
This is an important step in providing emotional closure for the families, education for the new generation of Japanese people, and establishing contacts between the two nations.
The reconciliation work of Agape World has attracted attention from both the British and Japanese governments, with Keiko Holmes, our founder and director, receiving awards from HM The Queen Elizabth II and Emperor Emeritus of Japan Akihito.
In the past, the Japanese Government and a number of Japanese corporations supported the Pilgrimages financially, however, most of that support ceased from 2006, although Sumitomo Corporation continued their generous support for some more years.
On this trip, the travellers will need to pay for their air fares, accommodation, and travel within Japan, especially at the time of unfavourable sterling yen exchange rate.
We would not like anyone to be excluded for financial reasons.
Therefore, we are raising funds in order to subsidise some of the cost, so that everyone who wishes to attend will be able to realise a life changing experience.
